Purple Rose of Texas was founded by Susan Thomson, a native Dallasite, and lives with her husband Jim in East Dallas.
The idea for the initial business (luggage tags and ID tags), came from Susan's job as a librarian at a local high school. Photo IDs for students were printed in the Library on a special card printer. Susan noticed that you could print just about anything on the plastic cards on the card printer such as luggage tags, calendars, famous quotes, bible verses or whatever.
Susan did some research and decided to start a small home and internet business. All she needed was a name. Her five grandchildren helped come up with a variety of ideas, deciding to use Susan's favorite things in the name. Her favorite color is purple, she love dogs, chocolate and Texas. They went through a list of names until out of the blue, her husband suggested, Purple Rose of Texas. Perfect!
Susan loves spending time with her grandchildren, Reagan, Haylie, Jordon, Jakson, Jaycob, her son Dane and his wife Christy, and her daughter Samantha. She loves playing with her dogs, and creating new and exciting items and products for the Purple Rose of Texas Collection.
